This card is called Sunbonnet Sue and the design shown is just one of 18 adorable characters depicting the seasons and holidays of the year. It is a pieced appliqué and each of the designs come in 6 sizes and is so easy to create, you will be astonished! This is just one of 5 Fabrique cards that will be available at the show.
I will try to give you some other sneak peeks soon (unless they catch me ☺

Hi there! This is Lucy Morey owner of Hot Scott Patterns. I’ve been asked to share a little about what inspires me during my creative process.
So many things go into creating. Whether it’s sewing patterns, textile design, or image designs for the Slice Fabrique design card. One thing that is common for all types of design is how does the image, color, or garment make me feel. I’m an emotional creature so I find that color, shape, texture and pattern all communicate to me through emotions, how they make me feel.
When I create clothing patterns for my boys, I want something that let’s them express who they are. My boys are ruff, a little edgy, and active! They want to fit in with their piers, look good and be comfortable at the same time. They also, don’t want to fuss with what they are wearing, so they quickly find favorites, and will go with that time after time, day after day. I have 3 and each bring a little something different, which helps me create for a few types of boy style! One loves the blue collar/mechanic look, jeans and a great T-shirt with a cool graphic print. Another loves the skater look, and the last is sportier. I don’t have any girls of my own, but I LOVE designing for them J. I am constantly inspired by Project Runway, all my little nieces, fantastic blogs, and little trips to the mall to see what is currently “in” at the trendy little stores. My favorite look for girls involves taking something edgy and throwing it with something feminine and pretty.
When I create fabric, I look for great classic images with color combinations that have a modern spin. Like my new boys collection with Henry Glass which will be available for sale this October!
One great place to find and play around with colors is on the KULER website. Have you seen this? It’s amazing! Whether you are getting ready to paint a room in your house, or design fabric…. This is a great place to get inspired with color!
When I created my design card for the Slice Fabrique, I took direct inspiration from my boys and what they love right now. Mix that in with things that make me happy from my childhood, like cute little mushrooms, scooters, and butterflies and you have the Urban Kid design card! Vintage (because I’m a 70’s child, and that’s considered vintage now) but also totally today with a hip modern feel.
I hope you enjoy using your Urban Kid design card as much as we do! I hope it gives you one more outlet to create great projects that bring joy to you and your family and friends!
Thanks to Slice for featuring me today!
Happy Sewing!

Today I’m excited to have Cathy as a guest designer on the Slice Fabrique blog. She created a back-to-school bag project that she is sharing with us.
This roomy back-to-school bag features a generous interior with lots of useful pockets, perfect for carrying several books, binders and even a laptop computer or iPad. The outside of the bag features a cute front pocket, just right for additional storage. Two long comfy handles complete the look!

It’s easy to create a monogram bag with the Slice Fabrique. You can create your own bag to add a monogram to or you can add it to a bag you have around the house. It’s a great way to give a bag a new look, while personalizing it just for you.

Summer is quickly departing, but I’m trying to hold on to it as long as I can. There is just something exciting about sunshine that makes me happy. When I think about summer, bright bold colors come to mind. I wanted to post this fun summery tote project today to celebrate summer, if only for a few more day.
To create this project, use the Slice Fabrique and Animal Frenzy Design Card. The Animal Frenzy Design Card includes the piecing feature. This allows you to cut each piece of a shape individually (up to 4″) so you can build larger creations by assembling each die-cut piece together.

Create a new look for a basic top with the Slice Fabrique. Cut multiple 4″ and 3″ flowers from the Basic Applique Design Card (that comes with the Fabrique). Sew the die-cuts on the shirt using decorative buttons. It’s a very simple way to update your wardrobe without spending much.

Did you know you can cut wool with your Slice Fabrique? You can! I used wool felt for a fun project earlier this year – these fun little coasters & coordinating card:

Here are a couple of tips for getting the best cuts on wool/felt:
- use a high quality felt – the more inexpensive felt isn’t wool and it’s pretty flimsy. It’s hard to get a good cut on this cheaper felt. It’s not impossible – but you’ll save yourself a headache or two if you just invest in the wool felt!
- Use fresh adhesive on your cutting mat
- Remember my tip a few weeks ago about cutting twice? (You can see it HERE) You’ll definitely want to cut twice when you are cutting something this heavy.
Have you tried cutting wool or felt with your Slice? I’d love to hear any tips or tricks you might have!

Happy Friday!
